Alysa E. Doyle PhD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Alysa Doyle is a licensed child and adult clinical psychologist with training in developmental psychopathology, pediatric neuropsychology and psychiatric genetics. She holds faculty appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and the Center for Genomic Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/ Harvard Medical School (HMS). Her research leverages genetics, cognition, and dimensional and computational phenotypes to understand the development of neuropsychiatric illness across the lifespan. The goal of this work is to improve evidence-based assessment and child outcomes.
Dr. Doyle earned her BA in Psychology and English from Williams College (go ephs!) and received her PhD in Child and Adult Clinical Psychology at the University of Minnesota. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship in the MGH Department of Psychiatry. At MGH, she was Director of Neuropsychology in the Clinical and Research Program in Pediatric Psychopharmacology Unit for over 10 years before starting her independently funded research lab in the Psychiatric and Neurodevelopmental Genetics Unit. She also was named Director of Research at the MGH Learning and Emotional Assessment Program after establishing the clinic’s research infrastructure. At LEAP, she supervises junior faculty on research and postdoctoral fellows on research and clinical neuropsychological assessment.
Her expertise in child assessment, neuropsychiatric conditions, cognition and genetics is recognized nationally and internationally. She chairs or participates in groups such as the cognition genomics subgroup of the Psychiatric Genetics Consortium ADHD Working Group and the Neurodevelopmental Disorders Committee of the United Kingdom Biobank. She also serves as an Action Editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society.
Dr. Doyle has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Her work has garnered several awards, including election to Sigma Xi, a Dissertation Research Award from the American Psychological Association, a 50th Anniversary Scholars Award from HMS, and a Clinical Research Day Team Award and Anne Klibanski Visiting Scholar Award from MGH. Her research has been supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, Harvard Medical School, and the David Judah Foundation.

Pieter J. Vuijk PhD
Staff Scientist
Dr. Vuijk is a pediatric neuropsychologist and biostatistician. He has been a staff scientist in the Doyle lab since 2015. Dr. Vuijk oversees data analytic and data management efforts and plays an integral role in study design and conceptualization. He received his PhD in pediatric neuropsychology in 2012 at Rijksuniversity Groningen/University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands. In addition to working as a clinician for a psychiatric urgent care unit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Dr. Vuijk served on the teaching faculty of the Vrije University, Amsterdam, as well as Rijksuniversity Groningen/ University Medical Center Groningen. He has taught courses on research methods, statistics, psychometric test construction, structural equation modeling and multilevel analysis as well as clinical pediatric neuropsychology. He has been a methodological and statistical advisor on projects spanning addiction research, psychiatry, dementia, and pain studies. Dr. Vuijk has also served on the Scientific and Ethical Review Committee of the Faculty of Psychology and Education at the VU University in Amsterdam.
